Item Magnitude & the Combine Station Explained (7 Days to Die V3)
Since V3.0, two weapons with the same name and quality are not always equal. Magnitude gives some items a random boost, and the Combine Station lets you build that boost up. Here's how to spot good rolls and how to improve them.
What magnitude is
Every weapon and tool still has its normal quality tier. On top of that, an item can now roll magnitude: a bonus to one or more of its stats. That could mean more damage on a melee weapon, longer range on a shotgun or faster harvesting on a tool.
How to recognise it
Items with magnitude show an orange star and a teal percentage in their tooltip. The higher the percentage, the stronger the boost. Compare two copies of the same weapon side by side before you decide which one to keep.
The Combine Station
The Combine Station is a workstation that merges similar items to increase magnitude step by step. Instead of scrapping or selling duplicates, you use them to upgrade the copy you actually fight with.
How to use it well
- Pick your keeper. Choose the copy you want to keep – usually the one with the highest quality and the best magnitude roll.
- Feed it duplicates. Spare copies of the same kind of item are the fuel.
- Don't feed your mods. Take attachments and mods off an item before you combine it away.
- Upgrade what you use every day. Your main weapon and your mining tool give the biggest return.
Trading items with magnitude
On servers with a player market, weapons with a high magnitude roll are worth far more than plain ones. Check the stats and price history before you sell.
